Livermore highlight
Historic downtown
Downtown Livermore has been revitalized into a walkable, pedestrian-friendly district with boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, and cultural events, anchored by a historic core with roots in the city's early years.

Downtown Livermore developed from the city's founding in 1869, when the town was established as a railroad and agricultural hub. The downtown district grew as a commercial and social center, with historic buildings reflecting the commercial architecture of the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the early 2000s, the city undertook significant revitalization work, redirecting a highway that had bisected downtown and redesigning streets to prioritize pedestrians and local commerce.
Today, downtown Livermore is organized and promoted by Livermore Downtown Inc. as 'the heart of the community.' The district features independent boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and music venues. It hosts signature events throughout the year, including Bites & Vines (food and wine), Witches Night Out (a fall celebration), and seasonal festivals. The area is accessible by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), making it a destination for locals and visitors.
Downtown districts like Livermore's center are places where people gather, mark milestones, and build the social ties that define a neighborhood. The people who shop, dine, work, and celebrate there often carry responsibilities—mortgages, children's education, caregiving duties—that make a life insurance policy part of a complete financial picture.
